Halal Wise is built around a simple idea — a more intentional relationship with food and wellness. That trust depends on handling your information with care. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you keep over it.

We collect only what's needed to make scanning and lifestyle tracking work for you:

  • Scan activity — barcodes you scan and the products you look up, so we can show details and keep your history.
  • Wellness entries — hydration, sleep quality, symptoms, goals, and the health-related preferences you choose to log.
  • Account basics — if you create an account, your email address and sign-in details. Your first scans need no account at all.
  • Device & usage — general app performance and diagnostic information that helps us fix problems and improve reliability.

How we use it

Your information is used to provide the experience you came for — and nothing you wouldn't expect:

  • Show product details and ingredients when you scan or search by barcode.
  • Save and organize your scan history so you can revisit it.
  • Track hydration, sleep, symptoms, and your wellness score, and send the hydration reminders you've enabled.
  • Keep guidance relevant to the goals and health context you've set.
  • Maintain a clearer daily view of your routines and progress.

Health data

Wellness and health-related entries are among the most personal information you can share, and we treat them accordingly.

Your health context stays yours. We do not sell health-related data, and we do not use it for advertising. It powers the features you've turned on — your tracking, reminders, and wellness score — and nothing else.

Halal Wise is a wellness tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional medical advice. For health decisions, please consult a qualified professional.

Sharing

We share information only in limited, necessary cases:

  • Service providers who help us run the app (such as secure hosting), bound by confidentiality and permitted to use data only on our instructions.
  • Product databases we query to return ingredient and product details — these receive the barcode, not your identity.
  • Legal requirements, where we're obligated to respond to a valid legal request.

We never sell your personal information.

Storage & security

Information is stored using industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit. We keep data only as long as it's needed to provide the service or as required by law, and we work to limit access to those who need it.

No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

Your rights

You stay in control of your information. Depending on where you live, you can:

  • Access the information we hold about you.
  • Correct or update inaccurate entries.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your scan history and wellness entries.
  • Turn reminders and optional data collection on or off at any time.

Children

Halal Wise is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region), and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll remove it.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
